Community Veterinarian Program

Mission

To bring compassionate, accessible, and individualized veterinary care directly into the homes and communities of those facing barriers to traditional pet care—ensuring the health and well-being of animals and the people who love them.

Vision

A region where no pet goes without care due to mobility, financial, or accessibility challenges—empowering pet owners through community partnerships, mobile support, and proactive veterinary outreach.

Core Values

  • Compassion – We treat every pet and person with empathy, respect, and dignity.
  • Accessibility – We break down barriers to ensure all pets receive the care they deserve.
  • Collaboration – We work hand-in-hand with community health partners to deliver holistic, community-based support.
  • Trust – We build lasting relationships through consistent, reliable, and transparent care.
  • Education – We empower pet owners with the knowledge they need to care for their animals confidently.
  • Integrity – We are guided by ethics, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to animal welfare.
  • “Caring for Pets Where They Live – Because Health Starts at Home”
  • The Community Veterinarian Program is a collaborative outreach initiative between Vets Around the Corner and the numerous community partner agencies in Durham Region. Designed to deliver professional, compassionate veterinary care directly into retirement residences, community housing, private homes, and temporary living environments, this program supports pet owners facing mobility challenges, financial limitations, or housing insecurity.
  • Whether it’s wellness checks, pain management, vaccinations, or compassionate end-of-life guidance—our veterinarians meet people where they are, because every pet deserves quality care, and every person deserves to keep their companion safe and healthy, no matter their circumstances.
